Auditing Away

This week I have had very productive time working through my Producer’s video, as well as trying to manage my job as an auditor. I found the auditing job very beneficial for me to understand formulas on Google Spreadsheets better, and luckily enough I think I owe this to the fact that I’ve gotten so much time to be able to be proficient in the task. One of my biggest concerns in regards to my videography job with my producer was not being able to have a ThinkPad with Premiere Pro CS6, which is the editing software that I preferred to use. Because there are a lot of specialists working on the ThinkPads, it was difficult to get my hands on one of the two ThinkPads that had the program installed into it. This resulted in me trying to be as productive as possible working as much as I could on the auditor position, so that once the one of the laptops that I needed became available, I’d be able to work on the project.

So far the most event cognitive dissonant experience that I’ve had has been the issue finding a computer that has Premiere Pro SC6. All of the Think Pads available only had Premiere Pro CC, which is still a great program to use, but it didn’t have all of the tools required to edit 360 video. I think because of the fact that this was the case, I was overwhelmed because all I wanted was to immediately start editing my producers video. However, like I mentioned above, I realized that I wasn’t going to get anywhere by simply waiting for a computer that I needed to be available. Because of this, I realized finding other things that could benefit me in the project would make better use of my time.

I never realized how powerful the spark of conversation could be with a simple symbol followed by a few words. More often than not, we assume that hashtag activism is only geared towards attacking a certain group of people, but in reality it gets people who may not feel like they have the power to address a certain issue to come together with other people who feel the same way. I initially would just see a form of hashtag activism as a non-effective, because I used to think that only posting something on social media wasn’t going to be powerful enough to continuously spread a movement. However, it wasn’t until I read the article “Hashtag Isn’t a Cop-Out”, that I realized how untrue my opinion was. The fact that media now allows people, all have an opinion and voice on a certain issue. This is important because I think regardless if an idea that someone may have is arguable, it’s the fact you don’t have to be the leader of a movement to have a voice.
